I am 20 years old and currently my age mates are all for spending £200 to £400 on a pair of designer trainers or shoes.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, if you can afford it. However it is scientifically proven that you would get more happiness out of experiences than materials things. Experiences such as traveling, activities, movies, you know the rest.

At the age of 5 I went on my first ever holiday to Jamaica with my grandmother. Up till this day I still remember the eventful times of when my grandmother threw rocks at the barking dogs in the neighbour hood, shouting “Gweh darg”
and the time I witnessed a goat being slaughtered back of yard. These are memories that I will carry in my heart forever.

However I am currently in Orlando Florida with my twin cousins and best friend then we are off to Miami. It’s my third holiday of the year and I. am. loving. it.

It’s really important for me that I go out & explore the world. This is mainly to acknowledge that there is more to life than
Where I come from (Croydon) even though I am very proud of where I’ve come from. However, it’s also makes me hungry and thirsty. Inspiring me to want and do more.
But, here’s 3 reasons why I would rather spend money on experiences than material things:

1. Happiness from materialistic things can be short lived, where as experience can bring joy during the moment and from memories after.
2. Experiences tend to define moments in your life giving you different perspectives that can mould and shape who you are.
3. Within a social gathering experiences or stories of experiences can bring people together.

So, I encourage you all to step outside your comfort zone and do something that you would cherish forever.

Sc: Itskiraah to see what I’m getting up to in Orlando.

Love, Akira Kay x
